Our little garden project/ unser Garten Projekt

Due to the harsh veggie situation we decided to plant. Thanks to wonderful parents we had lots of seeds. So far this is what we have:

Hier was bisher wächst:

The most popular of Congolese plants: THE Manioc /Cassava
(which was actually planted by the Pygmy family that used to stay here)

The first flower of our zucchini (only the female ones develop a fruit) /

The carrot bed (what was left after the chicken attack) /

Our Papaya tree - also thanks to the Pygmy family - delicious with lime and very healthy/ Unser Papaya Baum - auch von der Pigmäen Familie - extrem lecker mit etwas Zitrone und sehr gesund

Work on the beans. Peas, zucchini and cucumber to the right /
Bohnenarbeit. Erbsen, Zucchini und Gurken recht daneben

 Baby cabbage / Kohl-baby

Peas in a row / Erbsenreihe

Fly on the okra gumbo /Fliege auf Okra

next to the Milpa bed (corn, beans and pumkin); Tomatos, onion and aubergine along the wall / Neben der Milpa-Beet (Mais, Bohnen und Kürbis) / Tomaten, Zwibeln und Auberginen an der Wand entlang.

 IMA!

 Play time with Dawa

 Potting plants / Topf-Saat

 Dawa

Bruno - of our our two cute little new rabbits! /einer von zwei zuckersüßen kleinen Hasenbabies.

We planted lots of more stuff. 65 different seeds so far. Most of them seem to germ incredibly well ('somtimes we must use a mosquito net to protect the baby plants).... but we can plant any day of the week. Yay Congo!

Good to hear that all is well in Dublin - and that you like our little garden project! Melaine mentioned the community gardens (as he is really into the idea of urban gardens : ) If you need a break you are always welcome to head south to plant with us a bit! All the best from the equator!
